James Bailey Architect was retained to provide architectural services for the design development, construction documents and construction supervision phases related to the space. The final design was based on the initial rendering, but further developed in consultation with the Client. The room provides audio/video conferencing for up to fourteen people in an acoustically controlled environment (fabric wrapped acoustic wall panels, carpet flooring, as well as silenced mechanical equipment were specified). Light distribution over the boardroom table was investigated with a lighting consultant. Finishes and detailing were specified to match the ones used in similar spaces elsewhere in the building. Compliance with LEED requirements set for this building was paramount, since the Allstream Centre is the first conference centre in Canada to achieve LEED silver certification.
