KNOX PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH
Burlington, Ontario

While the congregation of Knox Presbyterian Church was first established on its present site in 1845, the sanctuary that we know today was built in 1877. Knox Presbyterian Church has evolved over many generations, and has had its fabric "retailored" as required to meet the needs of the time at hand. MORE >

James Bailey Architect was retained to undertake a study of the current facility. The objectives of the study were to summarize the deficiencies of the existing building, to research the requirements of the internal and outside users of the church building, and to propose architectural design solutions to resolve as many of these issues as possible. The process included a dialogue with each group using the building. The support of the congregation for the selected design alternative was solicited in the context of formal presentations and informal "open house" opportunities.

The church later became involved in a more comprehensive demographic study of the Burlington downtown area and further plans, specifically related to the upgrades of the church building, were put on hold.
